Carnival of the Animals
Dance Camp June 6-10
Instructor Rachel Hewer trained at the Ballet Memphis school before joining the company where she danced professionally for 10 years. She loves teaching dance and Pilates and understands how valuable the arts can be in the lives of young children. She graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Education and hopes to continue to open young minds and hearts to the beauty of ballet.
Why children need to be involved in this camp:
As educators we know that the arts improve executive function, literary and math skills, as well as help children to find their voice. Dance builds self-confidence, coordination, and concentration. The world needs the creative mind to help solve those complicated problems we face in the 21st century. Integrating dance into a child’s development is one way to activate the imagination, but just as valuable it activate their unique spirit.
What we will be doing:
In Carnival of the Animals dance camp, children ages 3-5 will explore the movement quality of animals to the background of the beautifully composed music of Camille Saint-Saëns. Children will imagine, create, and explore a world where the animals are brought to life each day in a world all of their own. Join us for an experience that will be a fun filled week of dance, art, and performance!
